One man died, and another was hospitalized following a water rescue response on Friday at the Ballard Locks, according to the Seattle Fire Department.
Emergency crews responded to reports of a kayaker in distress in the 3200 block of W. Commodore Way. Upon arrival, responders located one person in the water and deployed rescue swimmers, the SFD confirmed.
Crews pulled the first patient from the water and found him in critical condition. A second person was later removed from the water, and responders provided medical treatment at the scene.
