A homicide investigation is underway after a man in his 30s was shot inside a hookah lounge with a history of trouble in Seattle’s Chinatown-International District on Monday morning.
Just before 8 a.m., officers were called to the 400 block of Rainier Avenue S. near South Jackson St.
Inside the Evangadio Hookah Lounge, police found a man with a gunshot wound. Seattle Fire Department medics took him to Harborview Medical Center in serious condition. The victim underwent surgery, but died in the operating room.
Investigators learned there was an argument inside the hookah lounge before the gunfire erupted. Police said a man fired several rounds from the front steps of the business into the lounge, hitting the victim.
There were other people inside at the time of the shooting, but they were not hurt. The gunman fled the area before police arrived, and he remains missing.
