Seattle police officers chase a stabbing suspect that was on a bicycle after an unprovoked attack
Seattle, WA – A man was stabbed in a “seemingly unprovoked attack” from behind in the Chinatown International District on Monday, police say.
The attacker, identified as a 44-year-old man, rode away on a bike before being arrested by Seattle police.
Officers found the 40-year-old victim with stab wounds in the abdomen after they responded to reports of the stabbing around 5:30 p.m. near 12th Avenue South and South King Street, the Seattle Police Department said in a blotter post.
Police determined that the man had been stabbed after another man ran up on him from behind. The victim chased the assailant but couldn’t catch him. The suspect then fled on a bike.
The man was given medical aid by Seattle Fire Department and taken to Harborview Medical Center in serious condition.
The suspect was located in Seattle’s Mount Baker neighborhood near Rainier Avenue South and South Bayview Street. He fled police officers on a bike, riding through a Lowe’s parking lot and into oncoming traffic on Rainier Avenue South, but was “quickly arrested without incident.”
Officers took a knife from the man’s waistband, police said. The man was arrested on suspicion of felony assault and taken to King County Jail.
