Two children and an adult were rescued after a large tree fell on top of a car in Seattle Monday evening. The Seattle Fire Department said crews responded to a report of a tree that fell on a vehicle near Aurora Avenue North and Whitman Place North around 6:25 p.m. The department said crews were able to cut the tree apart and rescue the three people trapped inside.
Crews also reported downed powerlines nearby.

The National Weather Service said a weather system was forecast to bring strong winds to the region, with gusts between 50-60 mph possible in the Seattle area Monday night into early Tuesday morning, but the strongest wind gusts were expected along the Pacific Coast.

Lightning and thunder were seen and heard at Seattle Center around 6:15 p.m. Monday. Shortly after, Seattle City Light reported more than 5,680 customers were without power, most of which were around the Fremont area.

As of 7:05 p.m., at least 30,800 customers were without power in western Washington.
