INCIDENT DESCRIPTION
At 11:50 pm on August 9, 2024, Engine 10 of the Seattle Fire Department responded to a reported rubbish fire at the intersection of Rainier Avenue S and S King Street. While Engine 10 was enroute, the incident was upgraded to a full structure fire response, with a report of powerlines down. Traffic camera footage archived by SafetyVid.org showed a firework explode at the intersection, appearing to start the fire. The fire spread quickly to a small landscaping tree and business sign, and threatened a pawn shop nearby. Engine 10 arrived four minutes after being dispatched, and quickly knocked down the fire with a pre-connect fire hose. The incident was reduced to two engines, a ladder truck, and a battalion chief. The incident lasted twenty-seven minutes. It’s not known if SPD/SFD are aware of firework involvement, with Marshal 5 being cancelled.
