On August 15th, 2020, I filmed Seattle Fire’s Rescue 80 responding, along with Rescue 1 Aerial. Rescue 80 is used when Rescue 1 is out of service, and is a 1995 Ford CF-8000 / Mobile Tech.

Rescue 1 will be getting a new rig soon, so I assume the current Rescue 1 will become the backup rig and Rescue 80 will be retired. Because of this, when I saw on the traffic cams that they were using Rescue 80 I decided to stake out Station 14 for what might be my last chance to catch R80.

I spent 90 minutes there after work on August 11th, with no luck. When I arrived on the 15th to try again, they weren’t even in quarters.

That turned out to be a good thing, since I got great footage of them pulling in just 15 minutes later. An hour after that, they finally got a call for a water rescue! The traffic light changed at just the right time, and I ran across the street to get this footage.

Although the heavy rescue rig was the star of the show, Rescue 1 Aerial is also a beautiful truck. I wish I’d gotten better footage of them, but at least I got some good siren as they pulled out.

Station 14 is south of downtown, in the SoDo neighborhood. It houses Rescue 1, Rescue 1 Aerial, Rescue 80 and Aid 14. Squad 14 and Health 1 were also parked in the back when I visited.
