Emergency crews responded Tuesday to an exterior natural gas leak near a building under construction in Seattle’s Columbia City neighborhood, prompting evacuations and light-rail disruptions. The Seattle Fire Department dispatched crews to the 5000 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Way South, confirming the gas leak and beginning evacuations as a precaution. Puget Sound Energy later secured the leak, with officials saying the response would be scaled back. No injuries were immediately reported. The incident affected transit, with Link light rail service suspended between Mount Baker and Rainier Beach stations and riders advised to expect delays. Light rail service resumed normal operation around 3and49 p.m.
