Eight people are recovering from their injuries after being hurt in a serious car crash in East Queen Anne early Sunday morning.
The two-car, head-on crash happened in the 2500 block of Westlake Ave. N. Crews with the Seattle Fire Department responded to the scene shortly before 2:30 a.m. and rescued multiple people who were trapped and injured.
“It’s an absolute miracle that no one died,” said Seattle Police Detective Eric Muñoz. “I would say that’s a testament to the first responders on scene. This was incredible teamwork. This was a catastrophic collision with multiple people seriously injured.”
According to Traffic Collision Investigation Squad detectives, a white Acura sedan was seen racing another vehicle southbound on Westlake Avenue North. Police said the Acura drove into the oncoming lanes of travel and struck a Ford Explorer traveling northbound head-on.
