Multiple propane tanks exploded at Kinnear Park in Seattle’s Queen Anne neighborhood Tuesday afternoon, leading to an emergency fire response.

At 4:38 p.m., Seattle police and fire departments responded to a report of a brush fire at 899 West Olympic Pl in Kinnear Park. A spokesperson for the Seattle Police Department said the fire is suspected to have started from either a tent or encampment, but the SPD said “this has not yet been confirmed by the Fire Marshal.”

A Seattle Fire Department spokesperson confirmed a homeless encampment is in the area where the fire started, but said “no cause has been determined yet.”

A 64-year-old man was seen “running and screaming” with their shirt on fire in the area before responding officers detained him for questioning, the SPD said. Seattle Fire medics also treated the man’s injuries.
