Dozens of displaced residents were distraught outside in the Interbay area Thursday morning after 25 tiny homes were damaged in a fire.
The fire occurred around 2:43 a.m. and the entire property site — on the 500 block of Elliott Avenue West, near the waterfront — needed to be evacuated. The cause of the fire is unknown, but Seattle police said they arrested a 36-year-old man on “charges of reckless burning and an outstanding warrant.”
The fire spread through another housing facility next door, where people also had to be evacuated. Altogether, about 50 people were evacuated at one point. The Seattle Fire Department said residents in the next-door building were allowed back inside.
