At approximately 1300 on November 11th, Aid 14 took a call for a medical. Initially, the caller reported that there was a person being pepper sprayed at the Goodwill Outlet on 6th Avenue. Upon arrival, Aid 14 requested more units as there were multiple patients. Engine Co. 10, Rescue Co. 1, and Battalion 2 were dispatched to support. At that time, the call was changed from a medical to a hazardous materials response. Hazmat Co. 1 was escorted to the scene by Ladder Co. 1, Aid 10, and Staff 10. Firefighters donned their gear and made entry to assist those injuried and clear the scene of the hazardous material. The material in question turned out to be mace chemicals that was in the storage room. The incident is currently under investigation.
