My girlfriend and I were staying at the Hyatt Regency Seattle in Seattle visiting the city on a vacation (well actually a convention) when the fire alarms (EST3 voice evac) were activated on floors 1 to 6. Hotel rooms and suites in this hotel are on floors 9 to 45 so they never sounded at all. Luckily I was in my room the whole time and never had to get out of my room but Seattle Fire Department showed up (I heard their sirens but didn’t know it was for this hotel)and cleared everything. The 7th floor was black dark and smelled like smoke so likely there was an actual fire but was cleaned up quickly and doesn’t look like anything bad happened. Volunteers and hotel employees still have no idea what was the cause of it. And it doesn’t sound like a typical EST system either (Temporal Code 3 with a custom message that I can’t find on Edward’s Signaling website). And yes the elevators weren’t working while it was in alarm.
