In May of 2013 we documented what turned out to be the first pre arrival fire video shot in HD. And not only was it shot in HD, but it was shot really well, especially when you compare it to most other fire related videos on YouTube. I knew being a documentary filmmaker would come in handy someday. The original posting of this video (found here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vytp4PV7GdI) caused a cascade of amazing things to happen:
1) It saved Engine 22 (the first company to arrive on scene) from being replaced with an SUV due to the mayor’s proposed budget cuts (see interview at end of video for Stew White’s take on this).
2) We landed a contract with C2FR in Washington to create volunteer recruitment videos for a FEMA grant they were awarded.
3) This video has been viewed over 680,000 times around the globe, mostly to educate emergency responders, cadets, volunteers and career firefighters.
4) It got us involved with the emergency services fields, something we probably wouldn’t have been involved with otherwise.
