On August 1st, 2018 a tanker truck carrying 5000 gallons of gasoline crashed and started leaking near the West Seattle bridge. I recorded Seattle police and fire units responding to the crash and stabilizing the scene.

Seattle Fire crews applied a large amount of foam to the truck, to suppress the gasoline vapors and prevent possible ignition / explosion.

SFD originally requested mutual aid from the Boeing Airport Fire Department, but were told the Boeing crash trucks were out of service.

SFD then dispatched both of their hose tenders, which carry 500 gallons of foam (compared to 10 gallons on a standard engine). They also sent a flat-bed services truck to the SFD warehouse to load additional foam.

Units worked throughout the night to unload the crashed tanker and prevent the spilled gasoline from reaching the Duwamish waterway.

Thanks for watching!
