My biggest catch so far! On July 24th, 2021, I filmed a huge Seattle fire response for a reported train derailment with fire in north Seattle.

I’d barely managed to park before the parade of units started passing me, so unfortunately I was still in my car for the Hazmat truck and the chief parade, but I was able to hop out for Rescue 1 and 3 tillers in a row!

The train fire turned out to be overheated brakes, not a derailment, so most units were put back into service. I was hoping I’d finally get footage of Decon 1 on this run, but it was cancelled before it reached me. Oh well, I can’t complain about getting a response this big.

I probably wouldn’t have gotten any units, but there was initially confusion about which mile marker the train was at, so units first responded to the south side of the ship canal.

Units seen:
Aid units 2, 10, 14, Medic 18, Medic 44
Battalions 2, 4 & 6, Staff 10, Safety 2, Deputy 1
Engines 8, 9, 10, 18, 20, 41
Ladders 1, 4, 6, 8
Rescue 1, Hazmat 1
