Captured here is SFD’s Station 25, in the heart of the bustling Capitol Hill district. This part of Seattle is a densely populated residential area, as well as a hip location for restaurants and nightlife. More recently, this district also saw the rise of the “Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone” during heavy protests in mid-2020. The fire station itself is home to Battalion 2, Engine 25, Ladder 10 (which, unfortunately, I was not able to catch on a call), and Aid Car 25. The ‘Aid Unit’, as they are also sometimes called in Seattle, is definitely the busiest vehicle at the station and responds to either minor medical calls or as a first responder unit to serious medical emergencies. In Seattle, Aid Cars are not ambulances and typically do not transport patients. As the name suggests, their main purpose is to quickly render first aid, until a crew of paramedics (usually in a so-called ‘Medic Unit’) can take over and transport the patient to the hospital.
