On April 26th 2020, Seattle Fire crews responded to a well-involved boat fire in Fisherman’s Terminal. The fire was quickly knocked down, and was confined to a single boat. Initially, crews were unable to access the lower levels of the boat and there were concerns that someone might have been onboard. Luckily, a search after the fire was knocked down revealed that the boat was empty.

Seattle has both saltwater (Puget Sound & Elliott Bay) and freshwater shorelines (Lake Washington & Lake Union), and the the two are connected via the Ballard locks.

SFD Station 5 is located on the downtown waterfront and handles saltwater emergencies. Station 3 is located in Fisherman’s Terminal (actually on the same dock as the boat fire) and handles freshwater emergencies. The crews use Engine 4 to travel between stations, depending on where the fireboats are needed.
