With overnight snowfall and freezing conditions, and a forecast for more inclement weather, Mayor Jenny A. Durkan holds a press conference with representatives from several City departments and regional partner agencies to provide an update on the impact to City services and detail the response to the winter weather.

In addition to the update on City services, Mayor Durkan and City officials outline how Seattle residents can navigate the snow. During winter weather and snow, there are five key things the City needs residents to do:

Seattle residents can get ready now by signing up for emergency alerts (https://alert.seattle.gov/), assembling preparedness kits for their households, and planning for backup resources in the event of a power outage. The City also stresses the importance of the Shared Shovel campaign (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6SnWUXRqVS8) to help ensure sidewalks stay safe and accessible, especially for our neighbors with disabilities. And, as always, residents are encouraged to check in on their neighbors to make sure we all stay safe and warm in the event of a storm. The City will also detail its preparations to ensure there is minimal disruption to essential City services in the event of a storm.
